APOLONIA VELASQUEZ

Executive Director & Head Curator

Apolonia Velasquez is a Toronto-based choreographer, artistic director, dancer, and actor. Some credits – Dance: Katy Perry, Kiesza, Serena Ryder, Shawn Desman, MMVA, Massari. Actress/Commercials: SYTYCD Canada, WalMart, Virgin Mobile, Nike, Bell, Dove. Choreographer: TEDx Toronto, Luminato, Nike, Make Up For Ever, Mugler, Nuit Blanche, Canada Goose, Bench. She has created and directed choreographic works for GADFLY dance company and has been commissioned by other dance companies and organizations. She was a Dora Mavor Moore award recipient in 2011 for ‘Klorofyl’. As one of the founders of TUDS Festival of Urban Dance Culture and the ProFRESHional Training Program, Apolonia contributes to the growth of the arts and Urban Dance culture in particular and strives to share her savoir-faire with others.

Chief Marketing Officer

Urban Dance aficionado since early 2000’s Hersson enjoys anything from House dance to Salsa. An Undergrad in Marketing, with extensive experience working in house with several marketing agencies and a freelancer specialized in the digital space and non-profits. He has notably contributed behind the scenes in the growth of Gadfly dance company and TUDS Urban Dance Festival.

Artistic consultant, & Food connaisseur | Credits – Dancer: Ariana Grande, Feist, Nelly Furtado, Kiesza, Cascada, MMVA. Actor: Turn The Beat Around, Camp Rock II, You Got Served 2 / Beat The World and Resident Evil Retribution. Artistic Director of award winning company Gadfly. Volunteer Board Member for Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists and Dance Ontario Association. Urban dance activist obsessed about weaving into the fabric of our culture its Urban Dancer state of mind: Artistry, Authenticity, Athleticism.
